Cynthia Heathcoe
Contemporary Living

Cynthia Heathcoe is co-owner of Contemporary Living, a mid-priced, high style furniture showroom located Downtown at the Gardens. Once a homeless single mother and resident at The Lord’s Place family center, she is now a successful entrepreneur. Recently she has been featured in the Palm Beach Post Q&A as well as Retailer Now, a national trade magazine for and about retailers in the furniture industry. The in-depth article reaches deep into the impact being homeless had on her and her family. Cynthia has always held a passion for helping others and is currently involved in several charities within the community, hosting numerous events at her showroom to benefit Place of Hope, The Lord’s Place, and Little Smiles, to name a few. In addition to serving on the Board for The Women’s Chamber of Commerce she is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for The Lord’s Place as well. She actively collects clients’ used furniture to be donated to The Lord’s Place Thrift Store.

Cynthia is the host of her own radio show on 900am appropriately titled “Make Your Room Happen." She uses the show to promote not only her business but the charities and causes she is so passionate about. Cynthia attended Palm Beach Community College where she majored in human services and business. She was awarded Student of the Year as well as six other awards for leadership and community involvement. She was active both on and off campus with Phi Theta Kappa, Delta Epsilon Chi, Student Government as well as Student Ambassador.

As event Chair for the West Palm Beach Relay for Life, she helped raise over $75,000 for the fight against Cancer, earning herself the Rookie of the Year Award from the American Cancer Society of Palm Beach County. Cynthia was active in her children’s activities as well. She started a Girls Scout Troop in her daughter’s school and was troop leader for 3 years. She was later Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scouts for 2 years. She volunteered often in both the classroom and on the school campus. Cynthia held leadership roles on the PTA and was event chair for several school fundraisers.
